Default 1.0--worth it?

I have no idea about psp but just bought one from ebay. I want to ask the psp freaks here whether the version 1000k with the 1.0 firmware was worth it buy it or not.

I heard you can play homebrew on that one. Only 1.0 to 1.5 allows it. I am not sure about it but that's what i read on diff forums. Right?

I know that might be a stupid question for you guys but what is the difference between version 1.0 and 2.6. Are those machines the same except they have a different firmware #.?

i know that 2.6 has a web browser but i also heard you can get one for 1.0 as well.

No, i know that upgrading and downgrading is a big issue for psp's but can I just upgrade my psp to 2.6 without a purchase of a new psp?

Hope somebody can give me some answers to those questions.

+ depends how much ur paying for the 1.0 pspif its relatively cheap go for it

+now you can play homebrew on 2.0 and 2.0+ BUT not ALL homebrew and you have to have GTA to play homebrew on 2.01+ psps.

+the higher the version the more features it has, sony releases these updates

+Im not sure about thisone except that you can get a homebrew web browser but im not too sure cause i dont use it.

+ lol u sure can, u CANNOT downgrade from 2.01, 2.50, 2.60, 2.70 so if you update make sure you are completely sure you want it.. you can upgrade from 1.51 or 1.52 to 2.0 and then downgrade to 1.5.

hope that helped.. anyway more questions just ask

thank you for giving me the information.

I do have one more question though.

So, if i decide to upgrade my 1.0 to a 2.6 version, how much would that cost me?

thanks

How much would what cost you? To upgrade? Nothing - it is a free software upgrade. However, there is little to no point in paying extra for a 1.0/1.5 unit if all you are going to do is upgrade it to the latest firmware. A good condition 1.0/1.5 PSP costs anything between 20% to 50% more than a 2.01+ model so it would be a complete waste of money.
