The analog stick pops off and to take to faceplate off you must remove the screws. If their is dust under the screen you'll have to take that off also. If you google "taking PSP faceplate off" you should be able to find more detailed instructions.

I would strongly advise against doing this. I did it with my original PSP and ruined it. First off, in order to remove the screen you have to unscrew 5 screws on the back of the unit, 2 of which are under the warranty seal, so when you do this you automatically void your warranty. After I removed my faceplate I tried to wipe the dust off with a soft cloth, but the underside of the lens has little if any scratch resistance so it immediately scratched badly even though I hardly touched it. I kept trying to wipe it down and got scratches all over the inside of the lens and ruined the display. Ironically, when I tried putting the faceplate back on there was even more dust under the screen than before, and believe me I was careful to not let this happen as I used canned air to blow out all the dust I could see before putting it back on. I ended up ordering a replacement faceplate from Lik-Sang and wasted $30. I didn't like the way it looked and ended up selling it back to EB games for only $150 to get a new one, and this one was in worse condition than my original with the small bit of dust. Long story short, after many exchanges and having to deal with sending it back to Sony (don't ask) I have a pretty acceptable unit, but it was a HUGE hassel.
