Default Firmware change buttons on a JAP PSP?

Hi,

I have a EURO psp and my mate has a JAP psp.
I am thinking of getting a JAP white PSP v1.5 but after playing with his JAP psp i have a question.

His buttons are all screwy ie: O = our X and so on.

This sucks because as a avid PS player its hard to adjust to this configuration.

Are you able to load say EURO or US firmware onto a JAP psp and will it alter the buttons to reflect what us caucasions are used to?

I searched the forums but i couldnt find the same question...
If i missed it then can someone point it out so i may get an answer to this question.

Thanks.

It depends on the version of the PSP (PSP-100*). I have a 1004 so it's Euro and I've heard that upgrading with a different version of the firmware is not recommended. But my friend hasn't got any problems with his Jap version PSP with Euro firmware - it's your choice.
But you will also have to play UMD's from region ALL or 2 (but i think almost all will have "all")

And the buttons - well that's how the japanese play so it's not a problem. You'll get used to it
