Default UMD wont read disc

I have two games - FIFA06 and RidgeRacer...RR being the first game I bought with my PSP. Hadn't played in a few weeks, put the disc in and the PSP tries to read the disc but gets nowhere with it. I don't think it is the UMD laser/player as it still reads the other game fine. Don't know what to do? I have inspected the UMD disc that doesn't work and everything looks ok - case intact and no marks on the disc. The disc also spins freely as I have tried (very gently) and moved the disc inside.

The only thing I think that could have effected the disc (and this may sound far out!) - my PSP lives with my in my case to work. The PSP lives inside a hard protective case. The spare game (in this RR being the one not played for a while) also lives inside the protective PSP case, in its own little compartment. Wondering if my mobile phone could have 'corrupted' any data on the disc. Or doesn't it work like this? I don't know....

HELP ME SOMEONE! I can't play RidgeRacer!

HAHA! I thought I'd have another look at that UMD disc. There was something faulty! The top of the protective case with the clear plastic face (as you look at the disc, with the label side facing you, where the two symbols are printed - the "PS hand controller" and the "PSP" symbols) had become slightly depressed. When you run your finger over the disc face, the clear plastic cover was not flush with the outer procteive housing of the UMD disc. This, I am guessing, effected the way the disc was beeing spun. I managed to give the UMD case a little twist, and it seems to have worked the protective housing back into shape, popping that clear plastic face back into place. Now when I run my finger over the front of the UMD disc, everything is flush with the face.

Anyway, I am happy now. I can see and hear that RR intro playing as we speak.

I also inspected the other UMD I have (FIFA06) and it too wasn't quite flush. Is this a known problem with these UMD discs and its protective housing?

I hope this all makes sense. I am just so happy my game is OK!

Yeah, happened to my Metal Gear Acid. I so wish that they made that outer layer just a carrying case...
