Default Battery life?

Whats the battery life for playing games on a standard psp (and normal music etc movies)? I just read an ebay thing (not the authority) that said 2.5 hours only?

It depends. With games it is very much dependant on how often the UMD disk is accessed and how much CPU power it uses. The more straign on the CPU the more power it uses - it is for this reason the CPU is capped on most games. With a game like Lumines for example, the UMD is almost constantly on playing the music so the battery life for this game would be considerably less than, say for example, Tiger Woods which only really accesses the UMD to load each hole.

With movie playback it depends on what the movie is being played from. With a UMD movie you would be lucky to get three hours but you will get at least five hours off a MP4 movie file playing off the memorystick due to the lack of moving parts during playback (no UMD spinning). With music it is a very good battery life - seven to eight hours due to the same reason listed above.

It's not retarded, it works out the remaining time on what the system is doing at that moment. It's dynamic and it's the best way of doing it.

You must have done something to start the UMD spinning for example - it would then change the battery life accordingly.
