Default How do I charge the battery?

I have the PSP plugged into a wall outlet via the adapter. I have left the thing on now for several hours and it received no charge whatsoever. The PSP is fresh out of the box too and I didn't tamper with the battery or anything.

Under the battery information window in the PSP it says:

Charge Level -
Hours Left -
Power Source External
Battery Status -

Umm, correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt the PSP charge WHILE you are using it while plugged in? It is like my battery is asleep! ::looks at - in status::

Does the PSP need to be in sleep mode or turned off for it to charge or what?

It should charge even if you are playing with it as long as it's plugged in. Sounds like you have a defective battery. If it is completely charged it should still display something like the following:

Charge Level: 100%
Hours Left: -
Power Source: External
Battery Status: Charge Complete

Leave the PSP on, and unplug it. You should get the following:

Charge Level: 100%
Hours Left: 8:29'
Power Source: battery
Battery Status: In Use

If your PSP goes dead as soon as it gets unplugged, then the battery is bad. I suggest exchanging it for another unit if that's possible. If not, then it's time to get a new battery.

LOL omg, I'm the biggest idiot! I opened up the PSP and noticed there was no battery inside! So I was like "WTF they forgot to put in my battery! Those idiots!" Then I hit myself again when I realized the battery was in the box. I apparently overlooked it while I was digging for my PSP in my hasty anticipation to try it out.

I guess I was assumming the battery came inside the PSP unit itself so I never bothered to check for a battery  . Thanks anyways, it's charging and getting juice now!
