Default Current version in stores

I'm ready to buy a PSP but want to take work with home brew. Is there ANY possibility of me finding one below a 2.5? The supply is good around here (Atlanta) with the basic packs and Giga pack, but I have a feeling they are all going to be 2.5's. Should I consider a "pre-played" unit at EB Games? They have 10 of those on the shelf, and I could probably check the versions on those.

I would prefer to have a new one, but would consider the used if there was no possibility to find a pre - 2.5 new in the box?

Thanks.

I recently purchased a PSP from Overstock.com about 3 weeks ago and it came with v1.52 so you have a good chance going through them.

That's a great idea. I checked and don't see it on the site currently. Looks like I missed that one.

Thanks for the info. Very helpful. I bought one at Walmart and its version 1.52. Now to pick up a 1 or 2 gig stick!
