Default What if any, are the advantages of getting a Japanese PSP?

Half the consoles on eBay in the UK seem to be Japan imports. Is this just because PSPs are hard to get hold of at the moment or are there any real advantages? What would be the disadvantages?

I.e. What can / can't you do on a Japanese console that you can / can't do on a UK one?

I agree the games are, but so much stuff on the Internet seems to suggest you CANNOT play European UMDs on Japanese consoles.

"I have bought 2 japanese psp from Hong Kong. Today I bought an american british movie, popped it in too the psp, up comes a message, " the umd device cannot be started, wrong region disc".

This happened on both psp, so the poster stating the incompatability is CORRECT 100%. These films do not work on japanese psp. Bummer!!!"

But... Presumedly a UK PSP can then also play Jap movies, so not really an advantage?

I just bought a UK one on eBay (I know) in the last few minutes anyways.

£220 for console, 1Gb stick, cables and stand. Seller has nearly 1000 x 100% positive feedback and seller is only 3 miles away. Seems too good to be true!
