Default Nickname problem with Japanese PSP

I have a Japanese PSP and have set all my language options to English. However, I don't seem to be able to change the character set in the Nickname settings from Japanese to English. So my problem is that I cannot enter a non Japanese nickname. Does anyone know how to do this.

You can UG to v1.5 which has an English character set. Or does v2.0 have that? Well, UG to v1.5 first and if that doesn't have it, then UG to v2.0. And if you're desperate for homebrew the use the DG.

I found on Winning 11 if you push select a couple of times it goes through another page of jap letters then you should see English.

well that works for my jap version of Winning 11 so you never know.
