Hi! I'm new around here...

wireless b goes up to 11mbps while wireless g goes up to 54 mbps. However wireless g router is backward compatible and will allow network cards that only have wireless b to connect to it but at the lowered speed of 11 mbps. But that's beside the fact that you can't use it to transfer files. You have to do it through the usb cable, which is quite fast even if it's usb 1.0

I was unable to connect my PSP to my 802.11G wireless network until I went into the settings and changed it to 802.11B-G.
So, no the PSP will not connect on a "G" only network. |

If you go to Network Settings, Infrastructure Mode (make sure wlan is on), than create a new connection you can scan and it will search for a wireless access point. Sometimes they have WEP, if your school has WEP than you need to ask them what the password is. If you do not see your schools connection than maybe you are not close enough to the access point. Try in different spots.
