Default Video Conversion

Ok was just curious since i cant afford a 1gb pro duo atm. If i get a 512mb card now and get another down the road if its possible during the transfer process from dvd to mp4 to split up a movie that is larger than 512mb and put part on one card and part on another. If not then ill hild out for the 1gb

No, you can split it up. If you go to the link below, it shows you how to convert a DVD to avi. Using that program you can choose which chapters to include in the conversion, so all you have to do is convert half the movie at a time. Also, if you're willing to give up a bit of quality, you might be able to fit an entire movie on a 512.
Also, if you go to Amazon.com, apply for their credit card, and buy their 512MB PRO DUO, you can get it for $45 with free shipping cause they give you a $30 coupon on your first purchase with the card.
Anyway, here's the link to the tutorial on how to convert the video:

dude mp4 is way smaller then dvd format. youll be able to fit 5 movies on a 512 after you have converted them.

yea 5 movies is pushing it. but I'd say 1 good movie and some mp3's in a 512mb pro duo stick. not to mention game saves and software updates.

mp4 is pretty amazing.
you get about 1 minute of film, in about 1mb of space in mp4. that means like a tv show can fit on 30mb, and a 100 minute film on 100mb. idk though this is roughly estimate though, we'll see when the psp comes out whos right.

It all depends on the the fps and the audio encoding. you can choose a poorer quality. but then it all depends on the quality of the source. I took a poor quality home made FFX Linkin park music video and converted it to mp4 at 15fps and the lowest stereo audio I could and it came out better then it was on my pc. I guess it was already poor quality to converting it in poor quality kept it the same. I think converting it in a higher quality woudln't make a difference in this case.

I'd be interested to know what quality video settings people have used when converting DVDs.
