Hi mate.
If you are currently looking for a sony psp unit (jp) and you need to buy the unit from someplace in a close proximity from where you live, I can't help you. However, if you have some cash to spare and you need it in a hurry, I suggest that you get one from Singapore. The Singapore PSP (Jp) value pack retails at approximately S$ 435 (Singapore Dollars). I got mine for only S$400 Sing. Dollars, after haggling the price. I believe this is the best possible price you could get for this unit. The cost for the PSP (US) would be around S$350 (Thats the price I preordered it). The Jp edition charges perfectly with the power socket, and I have not had any problems with it, period. Unless you plan to watch UMD movies on your PSP, the PSP (Jp) does not really differ from the US version. It has been confirmed with Sony that PSP videogames are region-free. Only UMD movies comes with a region-lock feature. In my opinion, I'm rather sure that MODS would be available to enable region-free UMD playback in the near future. Happy hunting for your PSP! Until next time, this is Fiko signing out... |

Hi
The US I have already pre-ordered the PSP (US ver.) from my local gamestore, and the preordered price is S$ 350. The US version is very similar to the Jp version except that the PSP (US) can play US UMD's. In contrast the Jp ver can play JP UMD's. Well there's also a European version (EU). Well that one can play European UMD's. I think you get the picture right? The thing is, if you want to play multiplayer or online with import and US PSP's, you can do so. Provided that the GAME is the same version. For example you could have a Jp psp versus a US psp in Ridge Racer (both games MUST be the same lang. version). It would not work if the games differ in terms of lang. ver. I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, be sure to post it on this message board. Thanks! |

there are some changes made onto the Us version,
there used to be a problem with the square button that when you pressed it the screen was also pressed. Also they have fixed that the battery last longer on Us version. |

So far I've yet to get any of those problems on my JP version. I've hit the square button numerous times. Only a slight difference that I can tell in the feeling of the button. it does not affect my screen at all. I have no dead pixels and I have 5 hours of gameplay at full charge. The only problem that I have had, was I tried to exit out of a game as it was loading, and the PSP froze on me. I dont' blame it cuz I probalby confused the hell out of it. Other then that....my PSP is perfect.

you will be able to charge it, either using a stepdown converter or one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MESE:IT i use these and they work perfectly. the us version will play uk games but not uk movies.

The US PSP is branded Region 1 and the Japanese system is branded Region 2. This isn't anything to do with games, but the UMD movie playback will be follow the same regional coding as DVD's. Therefore, a US PSP, as you said, will play US Region 1 UMDs. However, the Japanese and European PSP's will both be Region 2. On DVD this cause's a problem because in Europe Region 2 DVD's are encoded in PAL, and in Japan they are encoded in NTSC. But because PSP is a standalone system, neither NTSC or PAL, a Region 2 UMD will work fine on both a Japanese PSP and a European PSP. This is on good information from a friend who runs a long standing and reliable import store. |
