Sounds about right. Games are not region coded. At least I haven't heard of any. Just kinda sucks if you get a jap game and can't read what's on the screen. Movies I know for sure are region coded.

Brilliant thread, it's helped me get thus far, and now I'm stuck. The chap who sold me my PSP gave me a PSP with links and stuff helping me get my PSP to play video, and after reading this thread I now understand how it all works etc. Great!

The problem is that now as I've downloaded Video9 it won't run. It just says 'there is an error. Click OK to cancel' and thats it. And I accidentally downloaded itunes again (I already had it for my Pod), now it won't start at all. I click on it and it comes up with the little egg timer thing, and then the egg timer goes away and it's as if I didn't click on anything.

Can anyone help me pretty please with sugar on?

Thank you for this. I am a big newbie, and I am getting a psp in about a week, so I was going to ask most of these questions with other topics, but, because of this info, I won't have to take up space on the forum.

Guys, I am just wondering which version should I get when I purchase my PSP. When I approach each sales guy at a gaming shop they have all different stories..

Some says that if you get a ver1.5 u can only play the 1st batch of games and not newer ones. If u want to play the newly out games u have to upgrade to ver2.0 But some says that the ver2.0 can play games from the memory stick.. other's even say that the ver2.5 can play everything..
I'm so confused.. :?

You should buy a 2.0 firmware version PSP. That way it comes pre packaged with an internet browser and some updated codecs.

If you have 2.0, you can get a downgrader off the internet and downgrade to a 1.5. Then you can use homebrew (homemade games and emulators) on your PSP. If you want to play a game that requires a firmware higher than 1.5, just use a Version Changer to trick your PSP into a higher firmware. *Note: GTA won't work unless you have 2.0 INSTALLED*
