Default Using My PSP on the plane ?

Firstly hello all and you have a great forum here

I'm off to Italy this weekend and wanted to know if I would be able to use my psp on the plane :?: the other half said no, but I think she would rather i talk to her during the flight than bury my head in Ridge racer.

As I would rather cut my leg off with a rusty spoon than discuss some poo topic about some Z list celeb covered in heat magazine with the girlfriend. could someone please tell me I can game it the way to Italy cos when I get there I'm gonna have to listen and be attentive and all that new man cr*p for a whole week..

Cheers people.

Matt

If you're flying Alitalia, apparently you'r enot allowed to use any electronic device on the plane, for other carriers I don't know

I'm flying BA I think, so- my luggage probably won't get there and there's no chance of a meal - but that's not important - keeping myself amused is my priority..

you could have problems. It all depends on how tech savvy the crew are. Most allow laptops and GB's etc. basicall they don't like wireless lan, mobile signals, etc. As these can interfere with the instruments (put your switched on mobile near your TV for an example). The same is true for anything with a motor, motors also cause interference for a different reason.

Most airlines allow hand helds (PDA's) and laptops but you have to disconnect wireless lans and switch of GSM/GPRS/3G modems. You are also supposed to remove cdrom drives.
The problem with the PSP is the UMD drive. It'll be against the "no motors" policy". You'll just have to see how much the air crew know about the PSP.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

As Cosmiccut has rightly pointed out most airlines now allow laptops and PDA's to be used with the wifi disabled and only after the flight has taken off (Take off's and landings they dislike anything to be on).

I fly Air Canada all of the time and have never had any trouble apart from some of the cabin crew wanting to have a go too.

I suggest that you contact your airline first and ask them prior to taking flying.
What is the flight time to Italy from the UK... 4 maybe 5 hours tops??? hmmm that amount of conversation with the girlfriend might be worth it just to not have her b1tch at you all over the weekend eh

Hope you have a great weekend... safe journey.

But it's no different to a CD/DVD drive in a laptop. I have watched DVD's on flights before. And you're also allowed personal CD players. I can't see a problem to be honest.

You are correct, on Air Canada flights they bring us round Personnal DVD players etc to pick movies to watch from. I guess it all depends on the airline and their policies which may or may not have been written by out of touch ludites....

Actually while were on this subject I don't understand the reasoning behind plastic knives and forks... I mean I know that it is to stop people threatening others with a leathal weapon but hey have you seen the food some airline serve??? now that could be classified as dangerous weapons :? I would much prefer to face off a 250lbs guy armed with a fork than a 80lbs little old lady armed with a slice of deadly peperony pizza that's for sure

Top advice, thanks..

The last thing I want to do is pop in wipeout pure - turn on game share and start controlling the plane. - Second thoughts  And jus to keep the bird happy I'll buy her a load of celeb mags and choclate - normally keeps her quiet for a while..

Thanks again

Matt
