Has anyone tried to access web pages fromt their local networks with the PSP browser?
I ask because I have just spotted this http://www.asus.com.tw/products4.asp...=12&l2=44&l3=0 You could write your own web page with links to the songs and use the browser to play your tracks, could be interesting! |

I have, I have even written a little guide on the official UK Psp site, a copy from that:
PLS Sticky: Guide: Browsing files on your PC with PSP I hope someone can make this sticky, as I think it could be useful for several people. Don't you think it's annoying to have to plug your PSP in your PC's USB every time you need a file? And with the limit of most memory cards, I would want to change the content of my PSP quite often. So this guide will help you how to set up your PC so you can use the PSP's wireless browser to access any file you need. Step1: Create a folder on your hard drive to store the files you want to access from your PSP (i.e.: C:\PSP File Server\) Step2: Use a HTML editor (word, dreamweaver, whatever you’re used to…) to create a simple HTML page and make links to all the files. Put this file in the folder you created. Step3: Use the following program http://www.analogx.com/contents/down...work/sswww.htm (thanks ZOverLord for pointing me to that one) to start a local web server (easy a 123> 1 Start program 2 Drag the HTML file you created into the program 3 Press Start) Step4: On your PSP go into the web browser and in the address bar fill in the IP address of your PC (192.168…….). Et voila, now you can click on the links to download your files into the appropriate folder on your memory card, and play them from the PSP menu. Tip1: You can use Photoshop to create Automated Web Picture Galleries in HTML format. Tip2: Use your HTML skills to create a TOC, submenus for every different category, and ‘Jazz them up’ with custom/Album artwork. Tip3: Host your server on the internet, so you can access your files from any hotspot in the world. |

Yeah, I've done that myself. Those with XP Pro rather than hame can use microsofts IIS.
The device I pointed to is a wireless lan network file sever. It's small and takes 2.5" laptop drives. It's also low power (5v 3amps) so it's easy to find a cheap battery pack. The idea would be to stash it in my rucksack, allowing me to get as close to the IPOD thing as possible using wireless lan. Yeah I know it would be a lot to carry around and not exactly portable but hey, I'm just nuts! The problem is, that it only supports windows file shares and FTP, neither of which work on the PSP  Now if I could get 1.5 firmware I've found an FTP client that would work.. I'll keep working. I think I get it anyway IF I can find a ultra cheap/free laptop HD |
