The Infrared port already works but the use of it isn't available within the menu systems as of yet. It can be called upon by programming though.

a device remote control would not be made by sony, as they would only control sony stuff, and wouldnt make it for any other device, and no1 uses IRDA on computers anymore and IR adapters cost more than a USB cable!

My bets on an update to the media players. You can already get units that turn it into a music station, etc. I can imagine a PSP IR remote that works a little like the one on the headpone socket.
Also, you can get most IRDA devices to controll other devies. They just have to support the right protocol. However someone would have to write the S/W |
