Illegal roms are not what I am talking about. From a personal point of view I am talking about the emulation of old gaming systems, be them the 8bit computers of yesteryear (Spectrum/C64 - still waiting for these two to be emulated
) or the 1st/2nd gen consoles (Atari 2600/Nes). However, with so many 'video game' newcomers owning PSPs it's no real surprise a lot of them aren't that bothered about the ability to emulate these older systems on their new handheld. Most noobs probably haven't heard of half these old systems even though the PSP wouldn't exist without them.

I've certainly heard of those old systems, and played rather a few of them. Yes, in their day they were good, but I'm not into the whole "games were much better back then" thing.
I'd rather play what's new and what's now. Many times I have gone back to play games I thought were amazing as a child and realised how bad they are. It ruins the memory for me. And I thought emulators were illegal? Surely they must be if you're playing something for free... |

As for emulators being illegal - only the copyrighted game roms/disk images you run on it are, not the emulator itself. So providing you own the original game or the game in question has been abandoned by the publisher (like 99% of 8-bit computer games have) then it's perfectly legal.
