Wireless gameing

Hi - I'm new to psp and wireless gaming and i really need it explained .

I have a wireless network at home and someone came over the other day and we played a couple of games head to head. Am i right in thinking that we could have done the same over the internet.

Also is this the same for all games or just specific ones. How do i know which ones?

Also if i can play over the internet can i play against specific friends, how do i know who is online etc

I guess it is all a bit confusing and all needs explaining to a complete psp plus on line gaming novice

most games support ad hoc gamming (head to head), but there are only a few that support infastructure (online). it will say on the box (infastructure has a logo with a psp and a globe in it, and the ad hoc logo is 2 psps). when using infastructure games, you go to lobbies and find games and join them, and play
