Default Can i downgrade my 4.01 ofw

I bought my psp about a week ago and as soon as i found out about custom firmware i tried it straight away. to my horror when i tried to run the 4.01 cfw it came up with an error code, i looked up the error code and found out that it was blocking it for legal reasons. is there anyway i can bypass this or downgrade my psp that doesnt require takeing apart the psp or some extremely long and complicated process?

Buy a pandora battery?
It's awfully simple, and not very complicated to be honest.
