Hi,
New user here, first post. I just bought an orginal PSP from my neighbor today for $15 because it's broken and he just got the slim. I figured I could get it going by some kinda of button pressing while powering up, but after searching google for a couple hours tonight - I see that's not possible. Instead I see alot about the "Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick". Here's what this PSP does: Battery is charged - when I push up the power switch, the green LED lights up, and I see the the screen brightens up and stays on, but no display, or sounds at all. At this point, all I can do is turn it off, by holding up the power switch for about 10 secs. First question - Does this sound like a candidate for the "Pandora" fix? Second - Where can I get one for CHEAP!? I found one on craigslist for $35 which includes a 256mb stick. $35 including shipping. Seems like the cheapest deal to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! |

This is precisely the behaviour of a 'bricked' psp. All this means is the Flash Memory is blank or inhabited by corrupted data and the Unit is unusable. (I know cos my PSP is a brick at the moment)
But can I fix it? I hear you cry! Yes, providing it is the flash memory problem, Pandora will see you good ![]() Do what Mike says above ^^ go to deal extreme and get the bundle. |

I got the bundle!! Thanks!! Now, my question is, do I HAVE to make the magic stick, or can I get away with fixing it w/ the Pandora battery for now? I'd hate to go through all the trouble of making the stick if the units not gonna work anyway...I wanna put the pandora in and make sure it's gonna work for sure.
Thanks for the help guys!! |

No, the idea is to use them both.
The pandora battery tricks the startup sequence to boot from MS instead of flash memory. Which is very handy seeing as its broken ![]() The magic memory stick has special firmware files on it, these are copied to the flash memory and.... what do you know! it fixes the PSP, you no longer need the pandora battery or MMS and the PSP will boot normally. You might want to keep them in a drawer or something, cos if youre like me, then its handy to fix little accidents when messing about with critically important files and they become messed up. You can just slip the PB and MMS in the PSP and within 2 mins the PSP will be fixed. Click my sig below if you want to find out more about the whole process |

Wow, you really know your stuff! Will the 4gb card that is coming with the pandora battery work to put the files on? Or would it fit on the 32mb (which is pretty much useless now-a-days!) that came with it? Can you post links to whatever files I need and instructions? Or would it be easier to email them to me? Vwchappy@comcast.net
Thanks!! |

Theres instructions and files available here:
http://www.psp-forum.com/psp-homebre...-tutorial.html under the appropriate section Bear in mind if the product bundle was sold to you as a 'magic memory stick' it already has the special files on it, and all u should have to do is insert them in your psp. If not, the files just have to be downloaded and copied over. which is very simple. If this is the case, any size memory card will do, so 32MB should be fine I suggest reading this link below to familiarize yourself with homebrew and custom firmware, written by, yours truly and answers most of the questions you are thinking of, and havent yet thought of.:-http://www.psp-forum.com/psp-homebre...psp-noobs.html This is assuming your PSP is a brick... I'm pretty certain it is though - so lets not think about that lol |

Hello,
I just got my pandora battery in the mail, so I am ready for the software now. Exactly WHICH files do I need to put on the card. I was going to use my nephews PSP (which is bone stock - no CFW) to make the memory card. I tried putting the battery in withought the memory card just for kicks, and it is still a blank screen - is that normal? Thanks in advance! |

Ok, I copied the files to my memory card using my USB card reader - didn;t know it took sony card until now! I put in the mem card and than my "TOOL" battery, the PSP's green power LED lit up without me sliding the power switch - and nothing.
When I use my original battery, I have to manually turn on the PSP, and the screen glows a little showing it is on, but with the "TOOL" - it doesn't glow at all. I am wondering if this is normal, am I doing something wrong, or is this PSP just SHOT??? HELP PLEASE!! |
