Dunno why you felt it neccessary to trade your slim for a phat but good for you mate. The first thing you are gonna wanna do is upgrade to version 3.52 M33.
After you have successfully updated, you need 4.01 M33.
Google it or have a look in the homebrew section on this forum..

I cant help you with gameboots, but i'm sure a couple of other members can help you

PS monster hunter should play, and no, its not too late

Hey. First of all you will want to do what High Roller Said to get to the latest CFW. Then for gameboots and other mods like Bootsounds and Even COMPLETE Flash themes can all be modified without Manually accessing the flash. (Once you are on 4.01m33) Go to psp-hacks.com and Download XMBEditor for 4.01m33. This allows you to change practically everything (Including Custom Background Behind waves) And the waves. The only thing i have not found it being able to do is change the OSK. (The 4.01 version might be able to though).

When you download the Homebrew software it will come with some mods pre loaded onto it. You can download new ones but you have to keep the structure for Files. Exactly the same or it will crash. (Nothing will happen. The program will just crash.) From what i beleive This will make it impossible to brick your psp from putting on flash themes) (At least using this method).

If you have any more questions such as Where to get gameboots (If you dont know) Then Remember. Just ask.
