Default Having problems with my PSP, please help

I just got a used PSP today and can't seem to get games to play. I pop the game in and it keeps me on what I call the home screen... where it gives you the category options of Settings, Photo, Music, Video, Game, and Network. However, I can't actually play the game. It didn't come with an instruction manual or anything, so I really don't know if I'm just stupid or if something's wrong. Please help!

Thanks!

Scroll across to game, press X, then move down to UMD or the Icon that shows the game title. Press X again. The game will begin

It doesn't give me the option to do that.

So there isn't a game showing on the menu?

Press O instead of X using what HR told you to do and see if that works.

Go along to settings and have a look arund there. (I think it is in System settings> then find the bit about auto start UMD.) (Cant remember the exact way to do it) This starts the UMD which you have in your psp when you turn it on. Can either save a little time or make you lose a little time.
