What Happened:
i was carrying a bunch of stuff, and my PSP was on top of the pile, it fell off and landed on a tile floor, it was in the foam sony case it came with. when it landed im pretty sure it landed flat lcd side down, im not sure if it landed on a side. Symptoms: i turn it on and no sound or picture, the power light is green, i have to hold the switch off for around 7-10 seconds to turn off light. i have already taken it apart multiple times and no progress so far, and yes i know what im doing so i havent made it worse haha. there are no burnt out/cracked circuit boards no stress fractures/cracks in the lcd no cracks in the case its self dont think it matters but im pretty sure the firmware is either 3.30 or 3.40...it happened a while ago.... Questions: 1) has anyone else had this problem? 2) is there a way to fix this? 3) if there is no fix, then can i use the screen for anything else? 4) is there a recovery console for the sony firmware? 5) if the screen did break, wouldnt there still be sound? |

Your PSP is dead i'm afraid.
Only pandora battery can save you. http://www.psp-forum.com/psp-homebre...-tutorial.html

Yeah. When you only see the light indicating that the psp is on but you get no sound or any picure then your PSP is as usefull as a brick. This can be undone if you click the link in the post above.

wow that's a whole lotta work just to unbrick my psp. I already bought an iPod touch to replace it anyways. Thanks for the help.
What I don't get is how dropping it could screw up the software, I figured it was some kind of hardware problem. |

really looks harder than it is, buy the battery, copy the files, start the psp.
It might not be worth the extra cost though, its easy to come to the conclusion that its the firmware but it worked before he dropped it then it didnt. EUREKA! dropping it caused the flash to jumble up and now he needs to untile, sorry, unbrick it. sorry guys, not convinced Peace Last edited by High Roller; 04-25-2008 at 04:58 AM. |

I would sya that you should buy a battery from somewhere like amazon then try to unbrick your psp with it and if it does not work then just send the battery back and either buy a new psp and you can use the parts as spares, take your psp apart and sell the parts or just sell the whole psp. I think someones first post (bamhm182 i think) said that you would get more money selling it as spare parts seperately on ebay. then you could use that money to buy a new one or just get the money back for your ipod touch
