I think there could possibly be a loose connection or something inside the psp. If you feel confident then you could take off your faceplate and have a look if not you could take it for repair or refund if you are within a year or just try and find someone who knows what they are doing when it comes to taking things apart and putting them back together.

I am sure you could probably take it down to your nearest shop that repairs stuff (Well if ya have one) Cant remember what to call it cos i am sure they are called more than just repair shop. If not just ask around and i am sure you will find someone/somewhere

Before you take it in for repair, try getting a needle or something real small and thin and rub it around the opening of the button but be careful not to scratch it. Then press the button a few times really quickly. Then get some canned air and hold your PSP face down and spray some air into the opening around the button. By doing this you might be able to shake out some dust or debris that might be making it act up.

The PSP's easy to take apart, it'd be really easy to take off the faceplate and clean the connectors.
Some words of advice from someone who's been inside the PSP MANY times and broken plenty of them: Do NOT get curious and go beyond the LCD screen, just clean connectors and put it back together, not knowing what you're doing and going beyond the screen is pretty much asking for trouble. Also, in the battery compartment, there's 2 short silver screws, those are only needed to go beyond the screen, don't take those out, and if you do, make 100% sure that you don't put the longer screws in the hole or you'll damage your screen, mine had a big ol' black spot on the screen when I did that, but it might be possible to completely break it. Take your time and don't rush it and you'll be fine. |
