Default Cant do anything without a memory stick??

Bought my PSP yesterday - basic console with no games as yet.

Can i not do anything, i.e stick some photos on, download game demos or games, music etc, without a memory stick??

I thought it had some in built storage, does it have nothing at all??

Great!!

Any recommendations then for resonably priced, fully compatible memory sticks/cards??

Do they have to be a certain brand??

Like so PSP Memory Cards :: Sony Memorystick Pro Duo

Nope any Pro Duo card will work. I think the internal memory you are thinking of is the RAM. Unfortunately there is no built in memory although it would have been a good idea. I think if sony had put internal memory in then it would be very samll and could only really be used for putting save data on.
