Default USB and Keyboard questions

Hi,

Just joined and done an intro in the intro forum!

Just trying to figure out a couple of things about the PSP Slim before i buy, mainly about the use of a keyboard.

I see there was one planned but now isnt by Sony, and that the previous PSP had a nifty IR one which the slim cant use.

Are there any options at all?

Whats the USB socket like on the PSP Slim, is it unique to the PSP??

Did see a thread about a 1.5 USB adaptor, but couldnt find anything about these?

Could something like this work: Keysonic Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad - Cheap at Ebuyer via the psp's wifi connection??

Any help would be great.

Cheers, Mark

The psps usb is a mini-b port.

I dont think that the keyboard in the link above would work. To be honest i will leave this question to one of the other members, as im not to sure on the whole keyboard thing.

i think that uses bluetooth to transmit. It will either be that FM or IRDA so i beleive it would not work. I Think the psp onscreen keyboard is actually quite good once you get used to it.

Thanks Guys.

Had another thought - what about connecting the supplied usb cable (that takes the PSP usb into a standard usb), to a USB 'gender changer' and then plugging a statndard keyboard into that??

Providing the keyboard doesnt require drivers, that could work couldnt it?

Possibly. If you have an old plug 'n' play keyboard lying around the you might aswell try it.. you are not going to harm your psp. but i think the only thing that would work with would be homebrew apps called psp write or something like that.

Hmm. i know irshell has a joypad/keyboard redirection capability, but i think it has to be connected via the PC. so i stopped reading about it after that as it didnt interest me.

With the USB keyboard, id imagine it would need the PSP to have device drivers possibly. Im not sure if these actually exist, either installed on the PSP as standard or as a third party patch.

Google it
Peace
