Default Slow PSP

After turning it on this morning, the enter button has changed from "X" to "O" and the start button cannot be used anymore for typing addresses into the browser.

But most importantly, it hangs and the battery has to be taken out so it can be turned off. Any ideas , please?

Thanks,
gerry

I beleive that there is some weird setting that the X changes to the O i think it is how japanese psp's are (not 100% sure... MB will know lol) and maybe something happened from it beeing outside or something. Did you have it outside when it was colde and then take it into a warm house. because that is meant to mess it up a little. (Because taking it from a colde place into a wqrm place creates moisture inside the system and then if you use it then you will possibly break it... Or so i have heard lol

Hmmm that is weird that the buttons changed over, over night.
Are you on Sony's official firmware?

No I don't think so. I think it's on v 3.80 M33-5.
Is there a way that I could just 'reset' the PSP slim, or is there any combination of buttons i can use to access the system settings?

Thanks both for your replies!

If your psp running CFW you can set the enter button through recovery mode. You can change it back to "X".

I'm sorry but I'm new at this. How exactly would I know if it's running on CFW, and how do I go to recovery mode?

I still haven't resolved the issue of it slowing down. It comes and goes. It would work normally for a few minutes and then slow down again. It works normally when games are played though.

Cheers!

You are already on CF as your firmware is M33. You can go to recovery mode to change it back to X, I have forgot how you enter recovery mode but I'm sure one of the members here will kindly tell you how.

Thanks, but it won't work in my PSP. I tried loading a 400MB game on it, and what used to take 2 min, now took 15 minutes. Everything is on slow motion. I also noticed the screen beginning to flicker. Once it does, navigating through the main menu is painfully slow.

any more ideas? Cheers!

sounds to me like youve knocked the cpu/bus speed down to 100/50 or something
Press SELECT when on the XMB to bring up the M33 VSH menu, at the top youll find the top two rows have speeds relating to menu and game, max them out to 333. this should solve ur problem. I seriously cant imagine what else it could be, i dont think psp's are elligible for pensions.

Chill with the talking about 400mb games. The rules of this forum state anything illegal cannot be mentioned or discussed. Change ur post or youll get *******ed. And respect the rules in future.

Peace
