Default Does charging the PSP while in use ruin the battery?

I heard it does so I try not to do it. Does anyone know if this is true?

I don't charge and play at same time.
I also heard (not pertaining to psp) wait till battery is almost dead then charge.

I charge and play at the same time all the time, it hasn't messed anything up for me. I think you'll be alright.

This only works for..nickel-lithium batteries I think. They have a 'memory' on how much energy they can store and after use the memory gets corrupted. Then you let it die and recharge it to show it how much it can hold again.

For the majority of batteries, however, this does nothing.

Me too, and I haven't got any problem for more than 2 years.

You can't damage a Sony PSP batteries charge and discharge rate from charging or playing games at the same time.

These batteries are smart batteries and will simply charge at a slower rate when the PSP is on AC power and being used.

All this being said, those Sony lookalike batteries from Asia do not appear to be that smart. I have had a few that say they are full after a 10 minute charge and some that charge forever and then shutdown after 10 minutes usage.

Moral of this story, don't buy cheap batteries. If you pay peanuts, you'll get peanuts.
