Default What happened to my PSP?

Tonight we flew cross-country. My son played his new PSP the entire flight. He shut it down when the flight crew told us to shut off electronic devices. At the airport, he took it out to play it between flights and the screen was completely messed up...almost like it had cracked. Has anyone heard of this happening? I can only think it was due to the changing pressure on the flight!! He is so upset...we've only had it since Christmas. Any thoughts? Thank you!!

Distraught Mom of completely distraught son

I haven't heard of anything like this happening due to pressure/altitude changes in a plane. I've taken my PSP on airplanes a couple different times and nothing like this happened. The only thing I could think of that would cause that kind of damage is physical pressure on the screen that would cause it to crack.

Either way, sorry to hear about your problem. You can do a google search for replacement screens and try to replace it if you want (it shouldn't be too hard if you have a little technical skill with electronics).

Another option would be taking it to a repair shop or a game shop that does repairs and having them fix it, it might not be too cheap but it will probably be a lot less expensive than replacing the entire PSP.

EDIT: Also, I just re-read that you've only had it since Christmas so, if there is no sign of physical damage, another option would be to call up Sony and check if they will replace it for you. Good luck.

This exact same thing happened to my nephew, although I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with flying. He switched it on one day and there was what appeared to be a big crack in the screen but it wasn't there when it was off.

He had to send it to Sony and pay them to repair it. Rubbish if you ask me, I think they should offer a replacement for nothing or build better quality goods but sadly they never will...
