Default PSP and the Internet

I heard that you can get on the internet using your psp with a copy of wipeout pure and you can then check your e-mail and surf the web. I was curious as to if that is true? Also if you can I was wondering as to how you would type in web addresses?

thnks

Ok, dispelling some rumors time.

No, you can't surf the web with a PSP YET, only play games and update over the internet.
Yes, the Korean version will come with a web surfing program...that ONLY works in Korea.

You can hack the online update function of wipeout to enable a web browser. Istructions for this can be found ALL OVER the net - just google psp browser wipeout etc. I have done it and it works pretty well, have checked various sites and read emails (hotmail). obviously you need to be in a wireless hotspot. Some sites work better than others (due to frames and banners etc). Text entry is automatic - when you click X over an input box an on screen keyboard comes up and away you go.

You have to have wipeout for this to work. I am sure that eventually an unofficial browser will be developed - who knows, maybe Sony will release a fully functional official one, but i wouldn't hold your breath for it.

My advice is to buy wipeout - it's also a great game - tough to beat and they are bringing out updates with more tracks, ships and skins regularly to keep it fresh.

Hope this helped.

GREAT NEWS! Well... sort of. If you don't plan to use homebrew or not for a long while, you can upgrade to 2.0 firmware in about a week. This has a "basic pack" for the Internet Browser as well as a butt load of features.

The korean browser doesn't work world wide?
Well if you can access the internet and browse websites, I think you can access any site you want.
