So I just got a used psp, luckily i didnt pay that much, and the two problems i have, (and please forgive me if im being repetative, I just spent 10 minutes looking for an answer on the forums):
The right trigger is permanently depressed, and when I am playing GTA its the handbrake and i can't drive anywhere. when I am playing a game i press the home button and it says do you want to go home? and i cant hit yes, it only allows me to select no. And also just a related question, how do i go right to the menu instead of starting a game. Thanks and this is a great forum |

It sounds like your buttons are faulty, I don't know a lot about the hardware of the PSP, but someone around here might know how to help.
As for going straight into the menu instead of into the game on startup, there's a UMD auto start setting in the settings menu, just switch that to off. |

I know exactly how to fix this.
My brothers psp was doing the same thing word for word. You gotta take your psp apart. Pop off the left trigger clean it with a ear swab dipped in alcohol Pull back the gray tab that covers the contact clean the top and under neath. Do the same for the right trigger button / only dont lift the gray contact on this one (its kinda hard to bring back down. Clean your X /\ 0 [ ] buttons also and your directional pad. If you dont feel comftarble doing the work yourself take it to ebgames or other game repair shop and pay $60.00 |

know anything about the analogue stick? I've noticed recently when I push it to the right, to move to the right in a game for instance, the character keeps moving right even though I've let go of the stick. Its fine once I push it in another direction. Its not too bad at the moment, but I'm worried it'll get worse and maybe completely stick.
I've also noticed my D-Pad creaks a lot more than it used to. |

Yeah for the analog stick youl want to unscrew it of the psp face place its only held down by 2 screws,
Remove the thumb piece to take it out, remove the black plastic washer set aside, pry off the metal bracket that piggy back rides on the analog stick set it aside. Using a swab dipped in alcohol clean the contacts on the analog stick as well as the contacts on the psp faceplate. Using a can of compressed air move the joystick in all directions spraying each time to blow out any dust inside. Now just assemble it back together, its also a good idea to slightly lift updwards the contact on the metal bracket that goes over the analog stick for better contact. Oh yeah i said black washer, but it also applies to your Pink, Silver, Black, white, Fat or slim psp. Last edited by psp91744; 01-10-2008 at 01:28 AM. |
