Default PSP problem..freezes

I bought my PSP in November of '06. This problem just started last week. When I'm playing GTA: LCS, the world will warp. The ground will blur while I'm playing, and it makes it impossible for me to tell what my car's heading towards.

Also for Manhunt 2, it freezes up whenever I load the game up & select 'continue game'. It'll load..and load..and load. & never finish, just stay at the 'continue/new game' screen. While it's trying to load though, I can hear something inside ticking...like a little thud. I can feel it in my hands too, every time it does the little thud.

I made a little video showing the problem..I press the button to load the game, & it just stays at that screen & tries to load forever. I put the camera behind the psp so you can hear the sound its making. All the clicks you hear when I set the camera down is from the PSP. Video ----> YouTube - PSP Freezing problem As you can see at the end of the video, it never loaded past that screen.

The ticking sound happens when GTA messes up, also.

So any thoughts?

either the disks inside the UMD Case are getting loose, or your UMD drive is going bad. Are those the only 2 games it does it to? If so I would lean more towards the UMD Case is just getting loose, I believe you can buy replacement UMD Caseings.

Well I found out in Manhunt 2 it only does it when I'm at a specific point in the game. I was only about 2 hours into the game when it happened. So I started a new game & sure enough, it worked fine right up until I got to the exact same point in the game. So would that mean I got a bad game?

As for GTA, it'll let me play for about 2 minutes before I start to hear it clicking, then I know any second it's gonna mess up. I try to start a new game, but it never loads up.

The psp should never make clicking sounds... is it under warrenty, i would take it back.

And try exchanging manhunt, if it only does it at a certain point then its a dodgy game.

It's been working fine with other games I've tried it on. GTA & Manhunt 2 are the only ones messing up.

So today I tried playing both games in a friend's PSP using my memory card..GTA worked fine on his PSP (Which is the new slim PSP), it never froze up; while Manhunt still wouldn't work. Although instead of trying to load, it'd say 'Data corrupted' when I put 'Continue game'. & it's not the memory card, because I started a couple new games in Manhunt 2 & they all freeze when I get to the same place.

So based on this, can anyone give me any suggestions? Or is it looking like my PSP's laser is about done, AND my Manhunt 2 disk is messed up?

sounds like you pretty much got it. Kinda weird that the lasar only started doing it with those two games though, you would think if the lasar was going bad it would do it to all games. Did you say you had any other games than those 2? i ask cause I am curious as to wether or not it will do it to any game you try and play, that would really let you know for sure if its your lasar.
