Default What's Homebrew

Excuse my ignorance, but I have noticed threads referring to homebrew.

Can someone let me know what this is all about?

Thanks!

P.S. I keep having flash-backs of my grandfather making his wine at home?

Homebrew is just 3rd party (non-commercial) products and software for the normal person. (Usually free to use and download unless that homebrew guy is a pricky sellout)

In this case, the PSP's homebrew refers to emulators and applications that other people can use. Homebrew = Potential && l33t coolness.
You can only use the homebrew if you have a firmware of 1.5 or lower... Which sadly does not include me.

Firmware is... what?
Well firmware is sort of like the operating system of your PSP. 1.0 and 1.5 are just different versions of it. Sorta like Windows.
