Does anyone know when Sony will start tbe second round of production for the PSP for the US, or has it all ready?

I think they still have PSPs available in the US. Or are you just worried about the Firmware?

Partly because of the firmware, but mostly because I've heard that it's not a good idea to buy first generation stuff that Sony puts out (probs with the PS1 and PS2?).

I don't think it really matters. Sony hasn't done anything defective with the PSP. I think you should get a PSP before they equip them with 1.51+.
