I will be visiting Singapore this month and I'm considering purchasing the PSP there.
I have two questions:- 1) Will I have any problems with playing games and movies purchased from the UK/Europe on a PSP bought in Singapore? 2) How will I know if the units are using Sharp or Samsung TFT Screens. As I understand it (rumour only) the Sharp is better quality? Answer on a postcard please! Thanks! |

Thanks Zen,
Should I worry about the language the PSP is in, or will I be able to change this? How do I found out which regions are using which codes for UMD's? So if I purchase UMD's in the UK to play on PSP bought from Singapore they won't work? Then I may just have to wait until September (Ahh what a shame). Forgotten about the screens already. |

Languages can be changed. I would recommend that people now wait for the UK release. UMD movies are doing so well that they're getting great support from studios, meaning the fact that a foreign PSP won't play our movies, could be a pretty big bummer.

Hey I live in singapore. dude the thing is, 99.5 percent of the shops in singapore sells their psp WAY too expensive. also, most of them ONLY sell the asian version (version 1.5X).
Now i know this place in Tampines (in Singapore) where you could get the PSP for alot cheaper. Currently, they still do have their JP psps et (version 1.0), so its highly reccomended. Try not to get the other versions, cause this particular model is excellent for emulators and stuff. if you need help in choosing a particular shop (trust me i know all of them, Singapore is a REALLY small country) drop me an email at fiko_666@hotmail.com Oh yea and try not to get ripped off. |

Oh yea i forgot, all JP sets come with a SHARP screen. The screen is no doubt better quality than the SAMSUNG screen, but yea, it doesent make that HUGE of a difference though. Make sure you dont fall for the "ASIAN PSPS HAVE SHARP SCREEN" thing. Some sellers tried that on me. LoL. All the best mate

Thanks for the reply Fiko.
Yeah.....let me know the name of the shop with the JP spec. I will check it out when I am over. How do I know it's JP? Do you know if the JP spec can play UK/European UMD's? I have had mixed answers.....some people say they do, some people say they don't? Cheers! |

The name of the shop is S Power House. Ask them to reveal the system information to you (its under one of the menu). It should read version 1.0 and you should expect to pay somewhere between 485 to 490 dollars. I shall be going to the shop again tomorrow, I'll post a price update on the JP sets tomorrow evening. About the UMD's, JP psp can play EU movies and music...No problemo!
