Default Camera

Have they set a release date for the PSP camera? I have been dying to get this. Since I take my PSP with me EVERYWHERE, it would be really convenient to have it double as a camera.

Anyone know of a place where I can import it from?

I'm not sure if they have or not, however, if I hear any news, I'll tell you. Lik-sang was a good web-site for imports, but fu**ing Sony shut them down...

Its mainly ment for game and video conferencing. It's only 1.3 megapixels, which wont give you much of a print out. There's no flash so you can't use it in dark condidtions. I would suggest getting a Sony Ericsson camera phone. They use memory sticks as well so you can swap sticks with the PSP (if you have a modern phone)

I don't care, it's still better than the one I get now, I think it's like a .31 MP or something REALLY low like that... Also, I've already got a phone, so I think I'll just be getting the camera for the PSP, I probobly wouldn't use it int eh dark anyways...

Yeah, 1.3 will suffice. I have some pics from Thanksgiving that my grandpop took with a 1 MP camera, and I think they look fine. Plus this is SOOOO convenient for me. Like I said, my PSP never leaves my side. I am so white and nerdy lol.

Not seen one yet but I have heard it's quality is no better than that of an old phone camera and is nowhere near the quality of the newer flagship mobile phone ones with auto-focus like my Nokia N73 and the Sony Ericsson K800i which are both 3 megapixel. Plus it hasn't got a flash which means it's useless for anything but lit scenes. For me and most other people who will have camera phones of the same quality or better, this renders it completely pointless.

Quote:
The 1.3 mega pixel camera will be capable of taking pictures at either 480×272 or 640×480 resolution, and shooting 30 fps video 15 seconds at a time. The camera will set us back roughly $43 USD including a storage case.
Maybe someone should tell Sony that 640x480 is actually VGA and not 1.3 megapixel. Also, 15 seconds of movie is really feeble considering you could be recording it to a 4gb memory card. My N73 allows you to record video files of up to an hour. Still, at only $43 we can't really expect much.

Sony have realsed it in Japan cause my friends over there have used it and told me its good. The quality isn't that good but its better than nothing. I heard you will need a program on the PC to run it not sure though...

I have read a couple of reviews and they confirmed what I said above, namely that it is completely pointless if you have any sort of camera phone. And that includes older ones. It's quality is dire and it's limitation on the video length (a mere one minute I believe) renders it useless in that respect.

Not something I would buy. In fact, if I was given one for nothing I doubt I would even test it out, never mind actually make use of it.
