Default psp not recognized? charger cable burnt out?

i bought a mad catz psp retracto pak which is a usb cable and charger for the psp and it sux sh*t..

i was working when i first tried it... but on my second try the charging cable started heating up and eventually burnt my hand XD. and my pc stopped recognizing the psp..

i dont really know what happened but this better not have affected my psp..

anyways now my pc says the psp is not recognized cuz im missing a driver and i know psp doesnt require a driver

anyone know what happened?

btw suggestions on good usb cables?
