Default USB Cable

I recently bought a USB Cable for my PSP and I plugged it into my PC but it says that the hardware found has problems with it, however, I put pictures on my PSP. I don't understand it. Does anybody know what's going on? What will happen if I keep on using the USB Cable when it said that there was a problem with it? It said something like the USB Cable speed was faster than the PC USB speed or something, I can't remember. Any help would be great.
Cheers.
