It's called art and using your imagination... A tru car enthusiast can appreciate cars like that. It's a hobby (like any other) that only a person who is into it can justify or understand. I'm a diehard car enthusiast and have spent countless of dollars modifying my cars (not to that extreme) but to car show/street drivable levels.

Cars like that don't even see the roads and are trailored everywhere.

To the person that asked if that was Alpine's show car, kinda looks like one of them huh?

It looks like one of Alpine's show cars but after I went and looked at all the pics from different angles it isn't. Although it has many of the same design qualities and is painted with a similar style.

I suppose this is 'art' too?

Personally I would call it a heap of sh*t. The car equivelent of a clown pendant and a burberry cap if you like. Horses for courses at the end of a day though but I personally think buying a decent car to begin with is the plan rather than buying a $500 heap and spending $20000 adding a serious dose of bad taste. Then driving it around and have people laugh at you.

Check out Carbage - you might find other pieces of 'art and imagination' you like

I was wondering when someone was going to reply to that interesting art comment.

Pagnell and the link pretty much cover it.

It isn't the first time in my 15+ years of being in the hobby that I hear comments like yours which I just laugh off. I don't expect people who aren't into it to understand or justify it. I'm sure there are things that you people are into that I think is just plain boring and ghey but it's all good. I'm not gonna fault people for things they have passion and interest in. Another thing that most people don't understand is that most cars like that are sponsored so they barely pay half of the parts/labor that goes into it. And I also will bet you that car wins thousands of dollars in prize money @ car shows. You apparently missed my comment when I said that cars like that aren't street driven. True enthusiasts wouldn't be laughing.

And please, that link contained nothing but RICE! Gimme a break!

I expect you have heard similar comments over the years. Probably because the vast majority of people think cars are there to be driven and enjoyed, not to be made to look rediculous. And you comments of 'I don't expect people who aren't into it to understand' could be applied to anything and is the standard response of someone struggling to defend something. This isn't a personal insult to you and I'm sure you enjoy your hobby of modding cars. I personally can't think of anything more stupid but it's just my opinion.

"the vast majority of people think cars are made to be driven and enjoyed"

This is why the car audio and performance industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. I'm sure all the people who mod there cars enjoy them or else they wouldn't do it. You guys are arguing over a matter of opinion. Cars like the one this thread started with are usually sponsored or built by a company to push the limits of creativity in the industry to wow and gain attention in order to sell more product. Whether or not you personally like the specific designs or not is beside the point.

I think what III 4U2NV III is trying to say is as some who is a car enthusiast and is into moding his or her car, whether he/she likes the design or not he/she can appreciate the work and skill that went into creating it. Which is why those of you that aren't into it won't appreciate it.

Oh, and Bill Hicks was a genius and the few CD's he left us with should be required listening in all countries.

I know it's a matter of opinion which is why I said 'horses for courses'.
