The headphone jack on mine is standard. You can plug headphones directly into the PSP. You should also be able to plug any headphones directly into the remote control extension, which is what I think you are referring to as having a special plug. I am currently using my Sony noise cancelling headphones that I bought for travel plugged directly into the PSP and the sound is fantastick.

Thanks nick and thank you Kaa for your wonderful advice.
Just tried it directly into the PSP and it sounds shed loads better with someother headphones I had lying around. Will buy some better headphones as its still on max and its not loud enough. I think the psp ones have a restrictor on them or something. Women aye.... useless Squares www.squarecity.co.uk |

You can buy the headbanger earsub for PSP. It uses the PSP to amplify the sound. At half volumn, it is already as loud as the headset comes with the PSP at full. One problem is that you cannot plug in the remote with it. The other one is that when there is no sound, the headphone has a low humming white noise.

It's worth the money, but I would like the volume to be higher on the PSP. I listened to the same MP3 on the my PSP and on my wife's IPOD and it's much louder on the IPOD. Well, I guess that it's designed for music. The bass isn't the best but the clarity is out of this world. I also have the Sony Nude earphones I use as a back-up. It's also very nice at a much cheaper price, but not anywhere as clear.
I will say that the Sony headphones are easier to put into your ear because if the option of a smaller bud. The sony comes with 3 different sized earbuds and the Shure comes with a bunch of them. The foam ones fit me the best. It works the best because you really get a seal in your ear, but it's not just so easy as to pop it into your ear. You have to sort of roll it up between your fingers and let it expand in your ear. It takes about 30 secs to have it set in. Sony ![]() Shure ![]() Foam Bud ![]() |
