I myself bought wifi-max. I had it all set up but kept getting the same IP error you all get...
Let me start by saying that buying a router is MUCH easier. With that said... here's the deal... After setting up wifi-max you have to go into your network connections and enable your main net connection (wired or wireless it doesnt matter) to share its internet connection with other computers. Do that and everything works, or so they say... NEXT however if you were like me, you have a router that atomaticly sets up IP addresses for your devices. Well wifi-max tries to set itself up (by defaults locked in the windows software, u can change these if u think your brave enough to change your windows registry) to use your routers default IP address. This is a BIG NO NO because you cannont have two devices using the same IP. Windows will freak and tell u it cannot auto assign IP addresses. What i'm saying is after you figure out how to get your comp to enable ICS (internet connection sharing) you have to manually set up all your networks IP addresses. If this leaves your head spinning or scares you in any way... DONT BUY WIFI-MAX. You wont ever be able to set it up. Save your money and buy a wireless router or like me, buy a better antenna to boost the signal of the wireless router you already have. wifi-max is purely for those of you who have a setup like this... modem wired straight to your computer that is hooked up to wifi-max anything different, and that mess up there i just described is your new topic to discuss with your psychiatrist. DITCH THAT WIFI-MAX ! |

WAHEY! I got mine to work, on a different computer though, but this time instead of installing the software off the CD (which was lost) I downloaded the Updated drivers from Here and installed them, works ok. But I do suggest anyone getting a router instead, they are more reliable and have a better range (connection is very fragile with the dongle, wont connect ALL the time)
