Default I just want a better battery.

Not looking to modify anything. Where can I get a longer lasting battery?

Sony Made a Longer Life battery for the phat, model number PSP-280 featuring a true 2400mAH life, all the third party offerings tend to much less than the capacity advertised dude to very lax advertising stadards in Asia.
for example a 3600 mAH is impossible without most of it sticking out of the back of the PSP (which do exist but would avoid)
Sony were unable to sell me a PSP battery online or at a Sony Centre

Best place is amazon but be wary of the stated capcites

There is also modification methods which involves taking out the UMD drive buying 2 third party batterie, cutting them out if their shell casing and wiring them all together for a total of 3 batteries (including the regular OEM battery in the battery slot) which has been reported to last 20-22 hours, when fully charged....

All that is of course if you dont use your UMD drive

Another option is if you guys travel about a bit by a metal case with a built in battery... I have one of these so when the psp is in the case it recharges and I can use it while it is in the case or plug it into the case via a cable.... doubles the length of your play time.

I have one of the bigger Sony batteries and all is cool fits no worries in the psp and came complete with a slim back plate but as (like me) my psp is a phat I didn't need it.

If your gonna muck about with these external bulky battery packs that bold onto the bottom of your PSP I would just buy another bloody battery and stick that in your pocket.
