Default Divx Support!!!

This is freaking awesome news, I read today that the PS3 will soon support divx. This really opens up the media capabilities of the machine. I always wanted a divx player since most of my (and probably everyone else's) movies are encoded as divx files, so this is great. Hopefully they'll make it so the PSP plays them too soon. Time to start downloading more movies.

Here's the article I read.

Come on microsoft, follow Sonys shadow on this one please.

I hate having to convert everything into MP4.

I could already do that with both the 360 and the PS3 with TVersity, but that's cool that they're providing real support, like Kev said, I REALLY hope that Microsoft follows in Sony's footsteps. TVersity doesn't let you rewind and fast forward and stuff.

lmao, nice Kev. You'll also be able to fit much more of it. 4.7 gigs instead of the 4 gigs or less that you have now.

So does this mean that instead of only being able to burn 2 videos to a DVD, than I can burn as many as I can fit on there and watch them all on my 360?

Also, even though this is the PS3 section, I'll put a link to the full Fall Update Change log.

Default divx conversion

Seems like you could convert the divx into another standard. There are plenty of shareware programs for this.

But it is still great the Ps3 will support divx

Well of course you could do that, but why go through the hassel?

Ok, not to be taken as a fanboy but...

I love the fact that we can finally watch DivX and Xvid videos on the PS3!!!!!! Streamed from the computer and watched off the PS3's HDD, both worked flawlessly!
