No need to apologize, you do have a point...sort of. Once the 60 GB models are gone, and just the 80 GB models are left, there will no longer be near 100% backward compatability.
You see, the 60 GB models have the Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesizer from the PS2 built into the hardware, whereas the 80 GB versions only have the Graphics Synthesizer built in and they emulate the Emotion Engine through software. Therefore the backward compatability offered in the 80 GB models is not as close to 100% as the 60 GB version is. In the 40GB version there is no EE or GS built in and that is why there will not be backward compatability, so in essense some backwards compatability will be gone once the 60 GB version is no longer available, just not completely gone, so you are right in a way. ![]() |

Well i will be going for the 40gig one when i have the cash.
I dont intend on buying a £300 machine to play last-gen games thank you very much. Also, the whole card reader USB thingy, well i never needed that on my 360 as you use the usb slots. Im guessing the 40gig ps3 will have at least 2 usb slots still? If so, then thats not a problem. Only trouble is i will not buy that deal, i hate fifa. Maybe if they include MGS4 then i would def get it. Kev ![]() |
