There's a rumor that in an upcoming firmware upgrade they are gonna enable you to turn on the PS3 remotely (forgot what they call that feature - wake on LAN I think). But yeah, I was talking about not needing a router if you're in the vicinity of the PS3, you would need an internet connection if you want to access it worldwide, obviously.
