I laughed when I read about that. It was on joystiq, and people said that this game is meant for children and teens, and it teaches them how to fear and hate black people while they are still young. That is such a huge load of bull. First of all, this game will definitely be rated M, which is not meant for anyone under 17. Second, why does everything have to involve racism. Does GTA San Andreas teach black people to hate white, just because you play as a black guy? Did Resident Evil 4 make people go outside and shoot Spanish people? No. I am yet to see a link between videogames and racism.

Not being a coloured gentleman it is hard for me to say what should or should'nt offend or be considered racist but one thing that always bugged me was that in the UK we used to have a jam (read Jello/preserve chaps) by a company called Robinsons.
They used to make awesome jams... I presume they are still going strong. Well their company symbol was a little colourful character called a 'Golly-Wog'... as kids we could collect the tokens from the jam jar labels and send them off to get badges (pins) of the the many different 'Golly-Wog' characters. They stopped the little skamp because it may offend!!! Now in my years I have NEVER seen any person slighly resemble this little cute character that sybolised a quality product that used to be indorsed by the Royal household. You know I truely believe that political correctness has gone far too far. I believe the picture on the right with a man all blacked up is from the Black and White minstral show. This group of singers and dancers were a big hit in the early years of TV. You guys can check out the net for the indepth story on the Minstrels. Again I point out that not being a coloured person I cannot truely say what I would find offensive or not so please understand where my opinion comes from. Also I need to point out that a persons colour, sexual preference, religious beliefs or geographic roots is not how I judge a person to be good or not... but in their actions and behaviour towards others etc. Des ![]() |

But like for example, if I were playing online with Kev or someone in the UK, I might use a different vocabulary than I might use if I were talking to someone in the US. Last edited by bamhm182; 08-05-2007 at 07:10 AM. |
