some will buy it for sure, but is the extra 20gb's really worth $100 or so?

This news also comes with the news of a price drop for the PS3 in the US, this being a good move by sony but it's still a silly price, and when are us UKers going to see this price-drop?

I'm surprised it's only 80gb considering the 360 Elite comes with a 120gb one which can also be purchased separately.

Still, the price drop is good but ROB (Rip Off Britainism) will still continue.

OK, here are the ACTUAL news. The 80 GB version will come bundled with Motorstorm for $600. The 60 GB version drops for $499.

Can current ps3 owners buy an extra HDD for their PS3 or are they stuck with their choice now?

If anyone wants a copy of motorstorm, I might sell it to you for cheaper than in the store. When it's released(unless it already is) I'm either going to take my PS3 back and get the $500 one, get a case for my PSP and a game or 2 for the 360, or get the $600 and sell motorstorm.

You can buy any 2.5" HDD and replace it with the one in the PS3, as far as I know the biggest you can get is 160GB HDD in the PS3...
