OK, this is an extremely stupid comment. So, the company is making money from their other markets, so you expect them to drop prices on something they are already losing money on? What kind of a business decision would be that? Its like "Hey, we are doing pretty good, maybe we should drop prices on our products so that we would start losing money".

WAIT.
in the article, it states clearly: but the majority of the profits will come from the gaming industry ah, thats why they should lower the PS3 price, because they're making making a lot of cash from it... well that's what it sounds like to me, i may be wrong? :?

Another thing that you're missing is that with every PS3 sold, Sony is actually losing money. If they lowered the price they would lose even more money. The only way they'll drop the price of it is if they find ways to manufacture it for less money.
Ryder's right, they make lots of cash from the PS2. This is so, mainly, because since it has been out for a few years, they've found ways to make it for less money and they're actually turning a profit on every unit sold. Another way they make lots of money in their games division is with software sold, far more than hardware. |
