Default A huge question decesive for my future PS3 buy

Can the PS3 play PS2 games, particullary thoses:

Final Fantasy XII
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus

I'd love to buy thoses games but if I can't play them on the PS3, that would not be cool because I'd have to buy a PS2 too...

Yes, the PS3 can play PS2 games. There have been a few problems but most of it can and will be fixed through software

Yes, very few problems...but a good firmware update will fix that right up...

I'm pretty sure it will be a lot better than X360s backwards compatibility.

I have heard that the PS3 looks *MUCH* worse playing PS2 games than a PS2.

Not likely, the PS3 is much more powerful.

Yes it needs the extra "thinking time" to emulate the games but its perfectly capable of doing it with no difference.

It was probably Pagnell that made that rumour up.

OK, here is proof, in video form.

Want to play a PS2 game ... get a PS2.

I've played the PS2/1 games on my PS3, the only thing that I notice is that the PS3 won't say what game it is in the XMB, that's it though.

And about that video, LIES! lol I haven't tried that game in particular, but I've played Rampage, a few Spyro games, and a Grand Turismo game, I didn't notice anything at all different, maybe I'm going blind... lol

If you look at the video, its evidence in itself its som microsoft fanboy who got jelous that sony hasnt *******s the backwards compatibility

The video has been edited to put the ps2 and ps3 right next to each other, oh and lets just turn down the resolution on the ps3 video so it looks really crap.
