No mate, it looks like a superb machine and I will be buying one eventually when they come down in price and the hardware problems are sorted out. I just don't know why people would wait for one (especially in Europe) when they could buy a 360 now which, while being maybe slightly inferior in regards to raw power, has a much better controller, has a lot more quality games and comes in a lot cheaper.

You can get a separate harddrive and upgrade? Yessssss!!!

So have they hacked it at all yet? It would be nice to have a USB keyboard and mouse attached to make it sort of a separate "desktop". Maybe I can install PC games onto it, but unless they are converted to linux versions, I'd have to install windows on the PS3... :|

So I can install any distro onto the PS3? Sounds interesting. Now if only it didn't cost $599 and had more stuff...

I'm sure it's not any distro of anything. Linux, sure, but I doubt you'll be installing Mac OS X on there anytime soon. And I'm not too sure about Windows, either.

Like I already said, there is no way in a million years any PS3 games will even approach that capacity for a looooong time and even when they do I would suggest it would be HD videos etc which aren't exactly essential. For example, Madden 2007 on the PS3 comes in at 7gb which backs up what I said in earlier threads about the PS2 and DVD's. The PS2 has the ability to have games come in at 9gb like the 360. However, most games can be ripped to fit on a 700mb cdr - it just goes to show how much padding and crap the game makers put in.

Still, the option is there for the PS3 to use that capacity and that can only be a good thing.
